In a deal announced last week, Hisense outlined its acquisition of Gorenje, the global Slovenian-based home electronics manufacturer. The Gorenje brand will continue in the UK, joining the Hisense family, with all sales and support continuing in the market.
With a prestigious 68-year history, Gorenje is a recognised and well-respected household brand which is popular across Europe with a wide range of innovative, market-leading technologies and features across cooling, cooking, laundry and dishwashing. Alongside the continuation of the Gorenje brand, a new Hisense Cooking range will be launched in the UK and Hisense will also continue to offer washing machines and cooling products.
Gorenje’s premium design-led ranges are renowned for high quality, environmentally friendly and innovative products – with free five-year parts and labour guarantee on most its built-in products. Developing cutting edge solutions is key to Gorenje’s success, for example the manufacture’s models use almost half the electricity and water when compared to models over 15 years ago.
Gorenje’s research and development will also be joining forces Hisense’s twelve research and development centres worldwide – including a strategic partnership with MIT Media Lab. All of which have the sole aim of delivering high quality, cutting-edge and affordable products that improve the life of our consumers.
Speaking about the acquisition, Howard Grindrod, managing director of Hisense UK, commented: “This is a really exciting deal for both brands. It represents a fantastic opportunity for us to work together to offer an incredible range of high-quality and innovative products into the household appliance market. Gorenje has a long-standing reputation for quality and style, and we will continue this tradition and combine it with our extensive R&D facilities to innovate and continually improve.
“We expect the new Hisense Cooking range to be introduced to the market in early 2019 while the Gorenje brand will continue in the UK. We look forward to working alongside our existing retail partners to showcase these brilliant ranges, as well as forging new partnerships as we continue to grow as a household appliance brand.”
